Melodic rock cloaks the tunes of the Daily Howl.

Sway to the sounds of the Fairview, Tenn.-based band on Oct. 1 at Capone’s in Johnson City. Led by brother Matthew and Aaron Cates, the four-man tandem formed in 2009 largely influenced by melodies crafted by the Beatles.

From that foundation the Daily Howl includes bits of blues and garage rock. Songs such as “Done with Feelin’ Blue” suggest Stevie Ray Vaughan. Hints of Stax soul seep into “Prisoner of Love” while suggestions of pop-infused punk extends into “Music Theory.” Fused with an infectious gift for melody, the Daily Howl makes sense of mixes of music.
